The Inside Window

Its come to my attention recently that many people share the same thoughts on money as myself: it drives the world, its on people’s minds constantly, but it isn’t the be-all end-all of life.

There was a time when there was no such thing as money, before money was invented, but that’s a concept some people miss: money was invented. Maybe its time more people treat it as such: an invention.

Its great for simplifying the trade process: everything has a relative worth, and in this sense its useful.

However, due to its extreme power, it has an extremely ugly side as well.

I won’t into depth, because I’m sure everyone knows the evil of money, or to be more specific, greed over money.

What I’m trying to get at is: almost everybody puts the mighty dollar on a pedestal. Perhaps its bending over backwards to get it, or dedicating their lives to something they hate, in order to make it, but too many place the worth of money over the worth of their own happiness. And too many people believe that once they get money, they’ll be happy.

I attribute this to the fact that most people actually believe their monetary worth is directly reflective of their person. And its true: people perceive this, but what about a person’s ability to carry conversation, entertain, make people smile, raise children properly?

Should these not be directly related to a person’s worth, rather then the size of their wallet?

With the economy on everyone’s mind, many things such as these get thrown to the wayside. We lose track of what really matters, or what really should matter.

No matter how much money you have, its likely the stress will not fade, its all relative, with more money comes different responsibilities, and through those, stress.

The Jones’ will always be there, and you can always be envious, or you can increase your worth in other matters of your life, because that will be worth something to someone, even if it doesn’t cost anything.

Great article, while I don't entirely agree with it (as per my post), it is very true about the representation of money, and what it actually means.

My point was to try to create a distinguishable difference between a man's wallet, and a man's worth, worth in this case meaning how other people see and judge him.

For example, a man who does charity work, may not get paid for it, but in many eyes this increases his worth.

      Thank you for your input!
